Around since the late 70s, there are many anime and manga series about these enormous mechanical beings, and it still enjoys an immense popularity here in Japan.

Ibara's two newest designs feature the Bisei Astronomical Observatory, celebrating the town's status as a Dark Sky Place (left) and the Hirakushi Denchu Art Museum, along with its recently-returned masterpiece, the Kagamijishi (The Kabuki-dance).

Both designs will be put on display in the lobby of the Hirakushi Denchu Art Museum from 9th April - 6th May, before being formally installed somewhere in the city at the end of May.
