About

Medieval Village Yumegahara is a themed park (not a theme park, sorry no rides here!) which takes you back in time to Middle Age Japan. You can experience what life was like back then in Japan, from making traditional food and trying out indigo dying!

The park was built in 1992, after great amounts of research and preparation to make the area historically accurate. The buildings were built with the same materials and tools as were used in the Middle Ages for maximum authenticity.

Being such a unique place, Yumegahara has been used as a location for filming several movies and TV shows, which makes sense if you ask us. Definitely see if you can recognise it next time you watch a period Japanese film!

It is also sometimes the location of a very well-known music festival called Stars On! This musical event really celebrates the best of modern Japanese music in a location right out of Japanese history. If you get the chance, don't hesitate to go - it's well worth the visit!
