Ibara is home to many things, but in the spring, its main attraction has to be its cherry blossoms. You will no doubt know about the most famous spot in our city, but I’m here to tell you about 4 other lesser known areas that you can enjoy to the fullest on your travels through the chugoku region, on your way to and from the big cities in Hiroshima and Okayama.
So come to Ibara City and miss the crowds that plague bigger cities while revelling in the delicate beauty of the Japanese sakura.
井原はさまざまな魅力を持っていますが、春には何と言っても桜が一番の見どころです。私たちの街で最も有名なスポットについてはおそらく皆さんもご存知でしょうが、今回は中国地方を旅する際に、広島や岡山の大都市へ向かう途中に、存分に楽しめる他の4つの穴場スポットについてお話しします。
ですから、大都市にまつわる混雑を避けつつ、井原市で日本の桜の繊細な美しさに浸ってみてください。
5. Kamiizue Park ・ Fukuroda Park
上出部公園と袋田公園
These neighbourhood parks are just a stone’s throw from the station - about a 5-10 minute walk. While small, they boast great trees whose cherry blossoms seem to last forever. With small playgrounds that are perfect for the kiddies, you can watch your kids while basking under beautiful white blossoms. Now that’s what I call multitasking!
この近所の２つの公園は駅からすぐ近くにあり、徒歩で約5-15分です。小さな公園ですが、桜の木がたくさんあり、咲き続けるかのような美しい桜を楽しむことができます。子供向けの小さな遊び場もあり、美しい白い花の下で子供たちを見守りながらくつろぐことができます。これぞまさにマルチタスクと言えるでしょう！
4. Aibara Park
相原公園
While known for being the location of a fabulous rose garden with tens of varieties of roses, what people don’t know is that in the spring, the trees that surround this idyllic location go into full bloom. Often the site of several events during the annual cherry blossom festival, this location is well worth the bus ride in, due to all the nature that it has on offer and its close proximity to Yomeirazu Kannon Temple.
この場所は素晴らしいバラ園として知られていますが、春には周囲の木々が満開になることもあまり知られていません。毎年の桜祭りの際にはいくつかのイベントが開催され、自然が豊かで、嫁いらず観音にも近いので、バスで訪れる価値があります。
3. Sakurabashi Park
桜橋公園
This entry may be cheating as it is technically in the same spot as our first pick but, Sakurabashi Park is a great little park within walking distance (about 20 minutes from the station) located halfway up the Ibara embankment. Situated right on the bank with the shopping district and a car park right next to it, it is the pinnacle of natural beauty and convenience, and a must-visit location.
このエントリはちょっとずるいかもしれませんが、桜橋公園は徒歩圏内（駅から約20分）にあり、井原堤の中腹に位置しています。商店街や駐車場がすぐそばにあるため、自然の美しさと利便性を兼ね備えた素晴らしい公園です。ぜひ訪れてみてください。
2. Denchu Gardens
田中苑
Only a 15-20 minute walk from the station in front of the newly renovated Hirakushi Denchu Art Museum are the Denchu Gardens. This deceptively large park is the site of a massive cherry blossom tree that you just can’t miss out on. The sculpted gardens have elegant, green lawns, a pond with koi and plenty of places for you to sit and relax while you watch the blossoms. It even has a secret waterfall and a tea house (not in use) if you look hard enough. With the museum so close, it is definitely worth visiting too, if not just to look down on the beautiful garden through the floor-length windows on its upper floors.
最新のリニューアルが施された平櫛田中美術館の目の前から田中苑があります。この公園には見逃せない桜の木があります。整備された庭園にはエレガントな芝生や鯉の泳ぐ池があり、花を眺めながらリラックスする場所がたくさんあります。そして花を眺めながらくつろぐための場所がたくさんあります。さらに、深く探せば、秘密の滝や使用されていない茶室も見つかるでしょう。美術館がすぐ近くにあるので、美しい庭園を上階の床から見下ろすだけでなく、美術館自体もぜひ訪れる価値があります。
1. Ibara Embankment

You knew it was coming, but yes, no list about the cherry blossoms in Ibara would be complete without the Ibara Embankment! The 2km long stretch of blossoms is legendary and a wonderful experience at any time of day. Night sees the blossoms lit with bonbori (Japanese lanterns, traditionally made with paper) to create a more saturated pink effect. In the day, the blossoms are a pale pinkish white and reach over the path the stretches alongside the river, creating an unforgettable experience. The embankment is about 10-15 minutes walk away from the station, and there is parking available at various points along it.
予想通り、井原の桜の名所リストには井原堤が含まれます！ 2kmにわたる桜のトンネルは伝説的で、どの時間帯でも素晴らしい体験ができます。夜にはぼんぼりで桜が照らされ、より鮮やかなピンク色が楽しめます。日中は淡いピンクがかった白の花が川沿いの小道に広がり、忘れられない体験を提供します。堤防までは駅から徒歩で10～15分、沿岸にはいくつかの駐車場があります。
