As Ibara is known for denim, the Shinmachi Shopping Street has now been rejuvenated, and turned into the Ibara Denim Street.

The street consists of specialist stores selling Ibara Denim, and also offering denim-making and craft experiences.

Alongside the shops is Ibara Denim Square Garden, which is a cute place to sit and relax with a cup of coffee bought at the coffee shop located inside. Sometimes they also sell fresh waffles at a pop up store in front. There's also a stage, so who knows what performances may happen here.

Above the garden is the Annex of the newly renovated hotel Maizururo, a wonderful Japanese style hotel.
